Copy/Paste Settings Feature in CFD-ACE-GUI

As of V2009.0, CFD-ACE-GUI has the capability to copy/paste settings to similar entities within a model, as well as across different models within the same CFD-ACE-GUI window. This can save on keystrokes when setting up your case. It is especially useful for cases where settings are repeated. Just enter the desired setting for the first entity, and simply copy and paste those settings to multiple entities at once.

The Model Explorer allows you to copy and paste settings for the following objects (or group of objects):

  • Boundary Conditions
  • Volume Conditions (Properties)
  • Initial Conditions
  • Momentum Resistance Regions
  • Multiple Reference Frame Regions
  • Fan Models
  • Macro Particle Settings
  • Spray Injector Settings

The steps are similar to any other copy & paste procedure:

  1. Select the object with the settings you wish to copy. It can be done by clicking on the object (BC/VC, Fan, etc.) in the Model Explorer or Viewer window.
  2. Right-click the selected item. Choose "Copy ..." from the menu that pops up (see figure 1 below).

  3. Select the objects (or a single object) on which you want to paste the settings. Right-click and choose "Paste from ..." as shown in figure 1.
  4. Click "Apply" on the right panel to save the changes.

Including neutral gas and surface heating effects in Plasma Discharge simulations

In several Plasma Discharge techniques for material processing, high density and high pressure Plasma is used. For those cases, it is important to account for the heating of neutral species as well as the solid walls and surfaces enclosing the Plasma.

Restart Options Under the Initial Condition (IC) Tab

When doing restarts, which is a continuation of a previous solution, there are a couple of options available in the CFD-ACE-GUI regarding where the data comes from, along with output and time options. This user tip will detail the various options available to the user.

The “Constrained Displacement” Grid Deformation Feature

When running Fluid Structure Interaction (FSI) problems with CFD-ACE+ you may run into problems with severe grid skewness in the fluid regions.   While the CFD-ACE+ Stress module solves for the deformation of the grid for the solid part, the CFD-ACE+ Grid Deformation module must determine how the grid for the fluid regions is deformed.

CFD-CADalyzer as a Grid Generation Tool for CFD-ACE+

CFD-CADalyzer has been designed to work directly with the CAD model, avoiding the pitfalls associated with translation between different geometry representations. Simply open your 3D part or assembly, and you are ready to go.
