Usually, when performing a particular simulation, it is necessary to compare the results of
similar models or the same model at different operating conditions. It is
important that the two (or more) cases being compared be viewed from the same
angle and at the same zoom level. In other words, the cases need to have the
same viewpoint or camera setting. This can easily be done with the
‘Copy Viewpoint’ and ‘Past Viewpoint’ tools. The example shown below illustrates the use of these tools.
Figure 1. Models loaded in different viewers. Desired model orientation
attained in the left viewer
Once the models have been imported into different
viewers in CFD-VIEW, they can be tiled vertically or horizontally if the models
are to be visualized side-by-side. One of the models can then be rotated,
panned and zoomed to get it in the desired orientation.
Figure 2. Copy/Paste Viewpoint options
Click
anywhere on the viewer with the properly oriented model (to make it the active
viewer) and select View → Copy
Viewpoint. Then click on the second viewer and select View → Paste Viewpoint. The second viewer
orients the model in the same way as the first.
Figure 3. Copy/Paste Viewpoint operations used to get the
same orientation. Iso-surfaces and particle traces shown
The 'Copy Viewpoint’ and ‘Past Viewpoint’ tools are available under the View menu in CFD-GEOM, CFD-VIEW, and CFD-VisCART.
