Semi-Structured Domain Stitching in CFD-GEOM

A feature that allows users to stitch together a Semi-Structured domain is available in CFD-GEOM.  This feature gives the user the flexibility of stitching two end faces with different topologies, i.e. a geometry that cannot be extruded.

You can find the Semi-structured Domain option on the Mesh tab under the “Shell and Unstructured Domain” options.

To create a Semi-structured Domain, you will first need to create the following:

  • A primary surface with a surface mesh
  • A target surface onto which the surface mesh from the primary surface will be mapped
  • A set of closed structured faces

  1. Select the Semi-structured Domain tool
  2. Select the primary surface with a surface mesh (surface mesh is required)
  3. Select the target Surface (no surface mesh is required)
  4. Select the closed collection of Faces that connect the Primary and the target surface together
  5. Press the Middle mouse Button
