Fit to View in CFD-VisCART

In CFD-VisCART, the 'Fit to View' function was improved in V2007. It now checks the blanking status before setting the view. In this tip, a car model will be used to demonstrate the Fit to View capability.

When you first import the model, it will be in the default view. While working with the model, you may have translated, rotated, zoomed in on the model in the graphics area. In order to see the entire model in the graphics area, but keep the current orientation, you can use the Fit to View option instead of one of the default views (front, back, right, etc.)

The Fit to View option is located on the View Menu and on the toolbar, as shown in Figure 1 and Figure 2.

This function becomes very useful when you have some parts blanked out and you want to focus only on the visible parts. In this case, make sure you also blank out the Bounding Box, since CFD-VisCART does consider it as a part.

If for instance you want to work on the rear tire of this model, you can blank out all other parts and hit the Fit to View button. It will center the view on the rear tire and show you only this part.

The Fit to View capability has been improved in version 2007.0.40 of CFD-VisCART. The Fit to View option is also available in CFD-GEOM.
