The Patch Tab in CFD-VisCART provides a tool for
naming of patches and assigning different boundary
condition (BC) types to them. The Explorer list
allows blanking, selecting and deleting of patches.
More over, it also provides useful geometrical
information for each patch. To set names and BC type
in CFD-VisCART, use the Patch tab as shown in Figure
1.

Setting the Name and BC Type
It is always useful, but not required, to define a
name and BC Type to important patches. Further
handling of the model in CFD-ACE-GUI will be faster
and more convenient if boundaries have a name and BC
type. To set Name and BC type, perform the following:
-
Click on Patch Tab in the Control panel
-
Select a patch in the Explorer List or in the
Graphics Area
-
Enter a new name for the patch
-
Set desired BC Type for the patch
The Explorer list, when the Patch tab is active,
shows the minimum and maximum (X, Y, Z) coordinates
for each patch, as shown in Figure 2. This
information gives an impression of the patch size. It
can be also used to help define a box source that
encloses a certain patch.
Don't forget it is possible to simplify viewing the
model by using the advanced handling options provided
below the Explorer list, such as Blank/Unblank
selected items (shown in Figure 2.)
