Starting a New Session in CFD-GEOM V2007 Print E-mail

The CFD-GEOM user interface has been reworked with numerous, but subtle improvements. Rather than a major overhaul, which might leave existing users confused, the GUI has made an evolution to make it more consistent and easy to use. CFD-GEOM is now more aligned with other products of CFD-ACE+.

Starting a New Session with CFD-GEOM V2007:

To start a new model, select "New" from the File menu or click the "New" (figure1 (1K)) icon on the toolbar. Once you have selected "New", you will be prompted with the dialog shown in Figure 1.

In the dialog, you will need to supply the following inputs:

  • Model Name: The model name you specify will form the basis of all filenames. For example, if you specify model name as "abc" then CFD-GEOM will save geometry and grid data in abc.GGD and corresponding journal file in abc.py.
  • Directory: You can browse and select the directory where you want store GGD and Python script files. By default, the directory field is populated with the directory to which you most recently wrote a file or from which you most recently read a file. If you are starting CFD-GEOM V2007 for the first time, this field will contain your home directory.
  • Enable Journaling: Check this box if you want CFD-GEOM to create a journal file for the current session. Note: If you do not check this box on this dialog , CFD-GEOM will not allow journaling after this point. This is to prevent the GGD file and the journaled Python script from becoming out of sync.
  • Units: You can specify the units that should be used when saving an IGES, SAT, or DTF file.

Click "OK" and you are ready to create or import a model for grid generation.
