Abstract
We report a novel microfabricated sensor array capable of sensing biologically important molecules such as Nitric Oxide (NO) and Dopamine. Dopamine has been known to be an important neurotransmitter and NO functions both as a neurotransmitter as well as the EDRF (Endothelium Dependent Relaxation Factor). We aim to record the nitric oxide released by cultured endothelial cells due to the shear stress acting on them, thereby setting up a bench-top model of shear stress regulated NO release in a blood vessel.
