Abstract
A two-dimensional mathematical model of the catalytic propane combustion in a monolith reactor was a means to investigate the effect of superficial reaction and its coupling with the fluid flow on mass and energy fluxes between bulk gas and catalytic surface. Simulations, performed at different values of the Re number, showed that at the light-off location a spike appears in Nu (Sh) number due to the development of new temperature, concentration and velocity profiles.
